What the hell happened yesterday? I’m not sure where to begin with this one. Villa v Liverpool games are at best tight affairs, with us suffering the odd hammering when things aren’t going well.

There’s a good reason everyone’s heard of the 5-1 win at Villa Park in 1976, results like that are as rare as a defecating rocking horse.

Bristol City 0-3 Aston Villa: Dream debut from Traore helps Villa advance to the Carabao Cup fourth round

Dean Smith’s Aston Villa have advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup as they cruised past Bristol City as they win their third game in a row in all competitions this season.

Anwar El Ghazi opened the scoring, after a wonderful piece of skill from Keinan Davis saw the 22 year old striker set up the Dutchman in the eleventh minute.
