Villa’s 100% record in the Premier League this season remains as they overcome Leicester City, seven months after the “watershed” 4-0 loss at the King Power last season before the Premier Leagues break.
Villa took their time to grow into the game as the hosts dominated early doors.
When Villa grew into the game, they matched Leicester very well – both sides opted for a 4-3-3 and the game very much proved to be a war of attrition between the two sides.
Going into half time tied at 0-0 was a fair reflection on the game, as both sides effectively cancelled one another out – a trend which continued into the second half.
Villa, however looked the dominant side after 50 minutes, effectively pressing the hosts back and winning set pieces in the form of fouls won by Jack Grealish and corners.
Brendan Rogers made the first lost of changes which did pin Villa back for ten minutes, but Villa kept on going.
Barkley’s equalizer in the dying seconds of the game perfectly personified this new look Villa side who never give up.
Both Douglas Luiz and Matty Cash impressed for Villa in a full-blooded performance from Dean Smith‘s men.
Winning all four of their games in the Premier League this season, Dean Smith’s Aston Villa will be very impressed with their performances thus far.
Villa’s next test is against Leeds United at home on Friday evening.
