We are delighted to announce that four members of the Heart of the Holte team will be running the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Half Marathon later on this year in order to raise money for both The Stiliyan Petrov Foundation and KitAid.
That’s right! Content producers Callum Richardson (@C_G_Richardson) and his girlfriend Lizzie Snodgrass, Dan Morgan (@danmorgi34), Daniel Horton (@danno1407) and Ryan Pitcher (@RyanPitcher) will be taking to the streets of the Second City on Sunday 13th October 2019 to race (I use that term loosely) around the 13.1 mile course and our target is to raise a total of £5,000 to be split equally between the two charities.
We’ve been in touch with both of the charities that we’ve chosen to represent and they’ve kindly agreed for us to run in their name. The Stiliyan Petrov Foundation is a charity that all Villa fans are synonymous what with our former captain being diagnosed with acute leukaemia back in 2012 and the disease bringing an untimely end to his professional playing career. A year later The SPF was established with the purpose to revolutionise the way leukaemia and other cancers are treated (more information can be found on their website here).
On the last day of the season Heart of the Holte teamed up with KitAid and Aston Villa Football Club in order to help stage our first KitAid day. With the club onside we’re now hoping that this will become an annual event so that Villa fans can easily drop-off old and unwanted kit so that it can be shipped to some of the poorest parts of the world (click here to view our vlog of the inaugural Aston Villa KitAid day).
Former Villa manager Graham Taylor was patron of KitAid until his passing in 2017 and is ran by his long-time friend Derrick Williams MBE. Derrick has pledged that all funds received via our running will be ring-fenced for a “special project.” For more information on KitAid please click here.
On the day we will – of course – have someone on hand to take plenty of pictures and videos for us to use to use post-run and hopefully we’ll see some of you on our way around lending your support to ourselves and everyone other runner.
We’ve set up a GoFundMe page where all donations can be pledged. Any offline donations, from friends and families of the runners will be tallied up separately and be added to the grand total.
Last season the Heart of the Holte team helped send under-privledged families to Villa Park, donated £350 to Project B6 and initiated the KitAid event. Next season we’re pledging to do even more for charity and the community… this is just the start!

We thank you for your support and UP THE VILLA!
